Hello,
My name is Robert. And my grandfather came from Poland. Grew up on polish food and still miss it today. Have been looking for polish restaurants in the Wichita KS area for a while, no results. So I’m attempting to use your receipts to satisfy my cravings. My grandmother and mother were great at cooking food, especially kalabisa. Hard to find in small cities. I will use your receipts as close as possible. Wish me luck
Robert
Robert, you will do great! Same exact reason I started making everything at home. Now I’m spoiled and continue making everything by myself because it just tastes better. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Good luck! Anna
My Busia made great kidney stew, do you have a recipe?
Bernard, I’ve never made kidney stew. We did eat gizzard stew at home. Hope you can find a recipe you like. Anna
I remember a sour green bean soup…..any ideas
There are a few sour soups in our repertoire but none of them with green beans. Any other info about it?
I am a 50 year old polish woman and as I have found typically my mom wasn’t very forthcoming with much information on the whole polish scene except for cooking🥰 there is so much more I want to know about the entire culture and I’m looking forward to exploring this website and everything it has to offer and the people who developed it and the people who enjoy it ☮️
Happy cooking!!
Hello Anna and Mark I have been watching your youtube videos for quite a long time and I enjoy your recipes some of them I’ve even tried. I bought your first book and I enjoy your recipes. I have a question about making sausages and I remember you and Mark did a video about making sausage I believe you even commented about the sausage stuffer you use. I would like to know more about your recipe as I am newly into grinding and making my own sausage. Could you maybe send me a link to that video as I am having trouble finding it thank you Roland
Hi Anna,
My name is Donna and my grandmother Sophie Durkiewicz Kostyra was born in Szczecin, Poland.
She and her sister came to New York State, but others in the family stayed in Poland.
I am having a Polish feast for friends later in the month, and came across your recipes and YouTube. I watched the Szczecin episode, and I am buying your new cookbook.
Many years ago my dad and I tried to make white kielbasa using my grandmothers recipe. She use to hand stuff the casings, my dad and I used a grinder. the flavor was correct, but the texture was off. I’ve lost the recipe, but look forward to watching your sausage episode, and trying your recipe.
Any chance you know any Durkiewicz?
Thank you,
Donna
