  1. Hi Anna….I grew up in a Polish community in Wyoming. We always had Polish cabbage rolls but we always cook them in sauerkraut. And it was the same as your comment about baking or boiling. My grandmother boiled them but my mom baked them but always with the sauerkraut! My sister’s husband’s family always used tomato sauce. Is this a regional thing? My family came to America from the Tri Village area of Poland. Would that make a difference as to how they cooked them? Just curious 🙂. Thanks for any information you might be able to share. BTW…..I love watching your videos!!!

    1. Perhaps, it is a regional thing. Some people boil some bake, some add a bit sauerkraut. One thing that is not common her in Poland though, is baking with sauce in it already. Is it done? Yes, not common however. Sauce is usually on the side.

  2. I made the cabbage rolls tonight and they were awesome. My family recipe called for baking like your recipe but we always did so with the sauce added to the baking process. I followed your recipe by baking with chicken stock and all I can say is OMG! The cabbage rolls were SO tender and delicious. I also followed your sauce recipe which I cooked along side and is was YUMMY. You need to publish a cookbook of all your recipes! So good!!

  3. Again as I was taught, to use just ground beef. I like the idea of beef and pork. I also use just a plain can of tomato sauce. I like the use of some spices in the sauce. When we make them in the fall, we make a big batch and freeze them without the sauce for use the whole year round.

  4. Hi Anna! My granmother always cooked them in tomato sauce. Love the flavor the cabbage gives to the sauce. I think I will try your way next time, baking with the broth and sauce on the side. Otherwise, the recipe is the same. I love your posts and videos around Poland. Hope I can visit there someday. Karen (Karwasinski)Costanzo

  5. I made the cabbage rolls with just ground beef, because that is what I had. I also made your tomato sauce, but without the cream. I didn’t have any of that either, so I used milk. Your instructions were easy to follow. I appreciated that because I had never made cabbage rolls before. I am 76 years old and live alone, but I ate all of them. They were so delicious. Thank you. I will make them again with all of the right ingredients next time.

  6. Hi Anna, I have to say how much I love following you. I’m first generation in America, I’m 66 years old, and most of my family is long gone, so sometimes it’s hard to remember exactly how our Polish recipes are made. My family didn’t write recipes down, everything was done by taste. But your recipes are extremely similar and I love that I can come to your site, and fill in, or double check that I’m making things right. Making Golabki tonight. I ordered your new cookbook, and am excited for its arrival next week.
